2020 Skoda Octavia Estate price and release date

Skoda’s trusty family workhorse, the spacious Skoda Octavia estate, will be thoroughly refreshed with an all-new model that’s due in 2020. No official details on price have been released, but you can expect entry-level models to start from around £20,000 (or possibly just under) and rise to around £35,000 for top-end vRS cars and posh Laurin & Klement versions.

2020 Skoda Octavia Estate – more details

The challenging twist and turns of the Nurburgring race circuit might seem a strange place to test a family load-all like a Skoda estate, but that’s where the car in these photos has been spotted.

The Skoda Octavia will share its mechanicals with the new Volkswagen Golf – and you can expect to see a range that will include hybrid and possibly fully electric models, too. Conventional power, meanwhile, will be dealt with by a variety of turbocharged petrols and diesels that will vary in size from 1.0 to 2.0-litres.

2020 Skoda Octavia Estate styling

Although it doesn’t look especially heavily disguised from these images, look carefully and you can see there’s some fake cladding that’s doing its best to disguise its finer styling details. What you can see, however, is that the same drooping bonnet design already seen on the upcoming VW Golf – the Octavia’s group stablemate. That works in tandem with a sleeker grille and redesigned LED headlights, along with a distinctively Skoda-style grille to create a striking new face that’s got more than a hint of the bigger Skoda Superb.

Around the sides, the bodywork’s creases and the shape of the windows behind the rear passenger doors are hidden by more cladding, but look through this and you can see more echoes of the larger Superb model.

The interior of the outgoing Skoda Octavia estate

Look to the rear of the car and past what looks like more faux light designs, and you can see that the Octavia will continue the tradition of offering more car for less money than you’d pay for a Volkswagen Golf: it will most likely have more back-seat space and a larger boot than the VW offers.

However, both the Octavia and the Golf will share interior tech. This means the Skoda will be offered with the option to specify a pair of large, voice-activated infotainment screens.
