2021 Audi Q2 updates revealed: price, specs and release date

September 01, 2020 by

Audi has revealed an updated version of its compact Q2 SUV for 2021. Read on for full details on this BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA alternative.

  • Revised bumper design
  • New LED headlights
  • Interior mood lighting
  • On sale in late 2020
  • Expected to cost from £22,500

Audi’s smallest SUV, the Q2, has been refreshed for 2021 with subtly upgraded styling, new LED headlights and revised infotainment features.

The 2021 Audi Q2 features new bumpers and headlights.

2021 Audi Q2 design

The new Audi Q2 builds on the old model’s blocky design with a set of new bumpers and revised headlights. The new car gets more angular black contrasting trim under the main grille and the headlights now get LED technology as standard. This means they’re brighter than the old car’s conventional lamps and display a distinctive pixel-like design when you turn on the daytime running lights.

You can customise your Q2 with black, grey and body-coloured trim.

The new car ditches the old model’s rear bumper and gets a new design that looks similar to what you get on the larger Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback. As before, you can get the metal panel between the side windows and the rear windscreen painted a contrasting colour to the rest of the car. The side skirts are also available in black, grey, or colour-matched to the car’s paintwork – depending on which model you pick.

New mood lighting is the biggest change to the upcoming car’s cabin.

2021 Audi Q2 interior

Audi hasn’t changed a great deal about the new Q2’s cabin. The design mirrors that of the old car and the infotainment screens haven’t grown, either. High-spec cars still get an 8-inch central display and a 12-inch diver’s display. You can get the new Q2 with some additional mood lighting below the dashboard and beside the centre console, however, and the old car’s suede-like Alcantara seats have been replaced with a fabric alternative. Boot space is unchanged at 405 litres.

2021 Audi Q2 engines and driving

At first, the new Audi Q2 will come with a 150hp 1.5-litre petrol engine with your choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic ‘box. Audi will add two further petrol engines and two diesel engines soon after, along with a revised high-performance SQ2.

As in the previous car, you’ll be able to get your Q2 with lowered sports suspension and alloy wheels ranging from 16 to 19 inches in size. Automatic emergency braking and lane-departure warning will come as standard and you can now choose from three new driver-assistance packages. ‘Drive’ includes adaptive cruise control, ‘Park’ features a reversing camera and self-parking system and ‘Safety’ adds additional rear-traffic detection to stop you reversing out of a parking space into moving cars.

The new Audi Q2 will go on sale later in 2020.

2021 Audi Q2 price and release date

The new Audi Q2 will go on sale in the UK later in 2020. Audi hasn’t confirmed how much it’ll cost, but expect the price of UK cars to be similar to that of those sole in Europe, which cost from around £22,500. That’s almost identical to the price of a current entry-level Q2.
