  • 2022 Lexus LX 600 revealed
  • Based on the Toyota Land Cruiser
  • Striking new design
  • All-new 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine
  • ‘Ultra Luxury’ model on offer
  • On sale at the start of 2022

The new Lexus LX 600 SUV has been revealed as a luxurious alternative to the likes of the Mercedes G-Class.

It shares plenty of parts with the Toyota Land Cruiser, and promises to be one of the most capable off-roaders on sale.

2022 Lexus LX 600 design

The new Lexus LX 600 certainly has a striking look which will make it stand out on the road. You certainly won’t miss that enormous grille and the sharp creases at the front.

Fans of the Toyota Land Cruiser will be familiar with the side profile of the LX 600, which is no surprise because they are essentially the same car under that striking-looking skin.

The full-width light bar on the back gives it a more modern look than the Land Cruiser, as do the optional 22-inch alloy wheels.

2022 Lexus LX 600 interior and infotainment

Lexus has given the LX600 a completely new interior, bringing the cabin firmly up to date.

There are plenty of shiny metal trims and classy-looking unpolished wood, and it’s a safe bet that all the materials are going to feel very posh indeed.

The dual-screen infotainment displays look good as well, with a 12-inch screen above the dashboard and a 7-inch screen below that.

There’s a new trim level called ‘Ultra Luxury’ that includes two captains chairs in the back, sunblinds and the option to move the front passenger seat forward for more rear legroom.

2022 Lexus LX 600 engines and driving

Off road is where you’d expect the new Lexus LX 600 to shine, and it shouldn’t disappoint.

It has adjustable suspension which can raise the car to clear big boulders, as well as ‘Multi-Terrain Select’ that uses sensors to detect what surface you’re driving on and set the car up correctly.

The LX 600 comes with a 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine. It may be smaller than the old car’s 5.7 litre V8, but it’s also more powerful and more efficient. It puts out 415hp and 650nm of torque, around 30hp and 107Nm more than before.

2022 Lexus LX 600 price and release date

The new Lexus LX 600 is going on sale in the US in early 2022, and will set you back at least $90,000 (around £65,000).

Don’t reach for your wallets just yet, though — Lexus doesn’t plan on selling it in the UK or Europe.
