Best hybrid estate cars
Want great fuel economy and a big boot? Don’t want diesel? We’ve got the best hybrid estate cars on sale today.
The BMW 330e brings a frugal hybrid setup to the already fantastic BMW 3 Series Touring, making for a great-driving and efficient estate. As great as it is, it’s a bit on the pricey side of things.
Not only does the Volvo V60 look cool, it’s really practical too. Go for the T8 estate and you’ve got some serious performance on tap too, plus the benefit of electric-only driving. It is getting on a little bit now, though.
Is there anything the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo can’t do? It handles like a sports car, wafts along like a luxury limo and even has room to take the dog on your travels. Oh, and with hybrid options, it can be eco-friendly, too. It’s quite pricey, mind.
The Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is just as good to drive and efficient as its hatchback counterpart, with the added benefit of a massive boot. It has a fiddly infotainment system compared with rival systems, though.
If you want a hot hybrid estate, the Skoda Octavia vRS iV might be the car for you. Granted, its no replacement for a full-blown hot hatch, but it does bring decent performance to a superbly practical car.
The Volkswagen Passat GTE is another car to go for the sporty hybrid angle. It’s not quite at that level, but it’s seriously practical and efficient — plus it’s really well equipped too.
Diesel hybrids are a rarity, but the Mercedes E300de shows the mix can work. Not only do you have the eco-friendly option of driving on electric only when you’re around town, you then get the huge efficiency that comes with a diesel engine on long drives. It’s an expensive choice, though.
Just like the V60, the Volvo V90 packs plenty of style into a practical and, if you go for the T8, punch package. Also like the V60, it’s starting to show its age.
If you want your hybrid estate to just be an honest and efficient runaround, the Kia Ceed Sportswagon is for you. It’ll never get your heart racing, but a great boot capacity and a seven-year warranty will at least help you relax your mind.
Ok, so the Suzuki Swace is quite literally a Toyota Corolla with different badges on. That’s ok though, because there’s a fantastic car underneath that skin — and it just means you’ve got even more offers to pick from.
