Dacia Sandero interior

The Sandero won’t win any awards for visual wow-factor or build-quality, but this new model is still far more welcoming than its predecessor. The infotainment suite will cost you, too

Style

The Dacia Sandero isn’t the go-to car for a stylish cabin, with the budget supermini taking on a very pragmatic approach to interior design.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Everything is very logically laid out and easy to use. There are no gimmicks here — your dials are analogue and you’ll even have to manually wind the rear windows on entry-level cars — but that’s to be expected at this price.

You may find the abundance of grey plastics and fabrics a bit boring, though, so if you want something with more pizazz you should look at the Peugeot 208 or Renault Clio. Still, the black and white trim inserts that appear on range-topping Comfort models do help to jazz things up a bit.

Infotainment

Go for an entry-level Dacia Sandero and you won’t have a semblance of an infotainment system beyond a very basic radio. Move up to Essential trim and you’ll be able to see what you’re listening to on the radio as well as link your phone up through Bluetooth, though you’ll have to rely on your phone if you want to display navigation or music. There is, however, a handy smartphone cradle fixed to the dash of every Sandero model.

Range-topping Comfort cars come with an 8-inch infotainment display with Bluetooth, DAB radio and satellite navigation. Much like the rest of the Sandero, the system is basic but does the job.

Impressively, however, you also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard – both of which can be connected to wirelessly. There are a few handy USB charge points up front too, but you’ll have to rely on a 12V socket if you find yourself sat in the back seat.
