Kia Sorento interior

The Kia Sorento interior looks stylish and feels quite posh inside. There’s plenty of space too, but the infotainment system isn’t as slick as you get in alternatives.

Style

The new Kia Sorento interior looks smart with loads of soft-touch materials and chrome-looking trim to make you feel you’re in a car worthy of its £40k price tag.

The infotainment screen controls many of the car’s functions, but thankfully Kia hasn’t decided to manage the air con through the touchscreen – there are physical switches underneath the screen that makes it easy to change when you’re driving.

Every model gets a sharp digital driver’s display too, this replaces conventional analogue dials with a configurable screen that you change through buttons on the heated, leather steering wheel.

Entry-level ‘2’ models get fabric seats, while mid-spec gets a leather interior. Top spec 3 cars get posh nappa leather and a panoramic roof.

Infotainment

Pick a Kia Sorento ‘2’ and you’ll get an 8-inch touchscreen. It misses out on sat-nav but at least you get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can use your smartphone’s navigation apps instead.

Choose a 3 or a 4 model and you get a larger 10-inch touchscreen with sat-nav and Kia’s connected services. Top-spec ‘4’ models get a lovely Bose sound system with 12 speakers. Overall, though, the system is a Mercedes GLB is just a bit more slick and looks nicer.

Mid-spec cars get a wireless charger for your mobile – providing you’ve got a compatible phone. While in top-spec cars you get a head-up display and a blind-spot monitor camera – when you turn on the indicators the left or right dial in the digital display turns into a live feed showing the blind spot on the chosen side.

All passengers have access to USB charging ports – even those in the rear most seats.
