Jaguar F-Type Convertible interior

The Jaguar F-Type Convertible’s cabin is good quality and roomy enough for two, but don’t expect this facelifted model to have had a drastic makeover inside.

Style

Jaguar hasn’t given the F-Type Convertible much attention inside with its facelift, so it’s all starting to feel a little dated compared with the latest Porsche 911 and Aston Martin Vantage.

That said, there’s nothing overtly wrong with the Jag’s interior. There’s plenty of leather, piano black plastics and chrome trim inlays, plus everything feels very well screwed together. It just doesn’t look or feel as modern as the Porsche.

There’s the choice to change the colour of the F-Type Convertible’s leather seats, headlining, and trim inlays and if you go for the First Edition or range-topping R model you get more aggressive sports seats as standard.

The F-Type Convertible has a nice cabin, but a Porsche 911 Cabriolet manages to feel even more upmarket as well as having a better infotainment system.

Infotainment

The Jaguar F-Type Convertible has a new 10-inch widescreen infotainment system over the old model, although it isn’t actually the latest screen Jaguar has access to, which is a shame.

Sure, the screen is fairly high-res and responsive, but there are easier touchscreen systems to navigate menu-wise and the built-in sat-nav is better ignored in favour of your smartphone navigation app via the car’s standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

You’ll find a USB socket and a 12v connection in the cabin for charging your smartphone, but there isn’t even the option of wireless charging like there is in a 911 Cabriolet.

A punchy Meridian sound system comes as standard, but if you want an even more vivid experience, you can upgrade that to a Meridian Surround system which gets extra speakers for a richer sound.
