Jeep Compass interior
The Compass has a smart design inside and it feels solidly made, it’s a huge improvement on the previous model. It’s just a shame that it lacks the panache of some alternatives.
Style
The Jeep Compass has an upmarket looking cabin with plenty of gloss black trims and shiny metallic bits to spruce it up. The dashboard is covered in fabric with contrast stitching and the top of the dashboard and door panels are soft touch. Some of the materials lower down are a bit scratchy though, and on the whole a Volkswagen Tiguan feels more upmarket.
While it looks nice, it doesn’t have the visual flair of a Peugeot 3008. Off-road focused Trailhawk models go some way to remedy this with some perforated leather on the dash and red stitching around the cabin.
You can also personalise it with different colour trims and on the whole the interior is a nice place to be. There’s a 10.1-inch tablet style touchscreen on the dash which is bright and colourful. Below this, you find physical buttons for the climate control making it easy to use on the move.

Infotainment
The Jeep Compass gets an impressive 10.1-inch touchscreen as standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The display is bright with some nice looking graphics, however some of the menus can be confusing at first. It’s highly customisable though, a bit like your phone, so it won’t take too much getting used to.
4Xe variants get built in satellite navigation. It’s a system developed by TomTom and it’s easy enough to set a destination, plus it gives clear instructions. You’re probably better off using Google Maps on your phone though.
The Compass offers Amazon Alexa connected services. This means you can do things like add items to your shopping list and adjust your heating if you have Alexa installed at home using voice commands. Voice commands can also be used to control the climate control and music.
Below the infotainment screen, you may be glad to hear there are some physical climate controls. While this makes it easy to adjust while diving, some elements such as the heated seats are still buried in the infotainment system, making it a faff to use them on the move.
All models get a reversing camera as standard, which is necessary as the rear visibility isn’t brilliant thanks to a small back window and thick rear pillars. You can upgrade this to a full 360-degree system as well.
