Polestar 2 interior

The Polestar 2’s interior is upmarket and high quality, with a minimalist feel similar to Volvo models and loads of hi-tech equipment

Style

All versions of the Polestar 2 get an 11-inch infotainment system and 12.3-inch digital driver display

The Polestar 2’s interior is minimalist in a very good way. The Tesla Model 3 is like an unfurnished flat, but the Polestar is like a cool Scandinavian apartment with all the right furnishings. The materials are excellent, with an expensive feel and solid build quality. Some cheaper plastics are seen low down, but it’s a very upmarket place to spend time.

The centre console and dash design is fantastic, and it all centres around a huge infotainment display screen – though more on that in the section below.

The metal door handles, pleasant steering wheel and some other features have clearly been taken straight from the Volvo range, though that’s not really a bad thing. The seats both look smart and are comfortable to sit in, and there’s plenty of storage around the cabin.

There’s also wireless charge pad and a Harman/Kardon stereo for excellent sound quality, plus electrically heated and operated seats. They’re covered in vegan upholstery, though leather is available too.

Infotainment

All versions of the Polestar 2 get an 11-inch infotainment system and 12.3-inch digital driver display

Every Polestar 2 comes with a huge central display screen with a portrait orientation. It’s clear and the graphics are super sharp, but the best thing about it is that it’s fully Android based. It’s a system designed for use in cars, rather than just linking your phone to the screen.

This means it’s a step ahead of even Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which aren’t needed with this system. It’s super-easy to navigate and has all the features you need, plus with Google Maps the sat-nav is fantastic.

You can customise the layout and sign in with your Google account to remember your preferences and use your apps, such as Spotify. We reckon it’s one of the best infotainment systems in any car you can buy right now.

There’s also a digital driver’s display instead of normal dials, which can be used to show sat-nav directions and maps as well as all sorts of driving data. It’s clear and can show range and charging too. It’s a bit dark but that means it’s not distracting when you’re driving.

Voice control works well – sometimes – as it’s based on the ‘Hey Google’ voice recognition software developed by the big tech firm. You get a 3-year internet subscription with the car so it all works seamlessly.
