SEAT Leon Estate interior

It’s all very high-tech and classy, but some of the interior systems could be easier to use.

Style

The SEAT Leon’s interior has fairly minimalist design, like in the new VW Golf. There’s a free-standing touchscreen, some air vents that mirror the shape of the car’s grille and a pared-back centre console with (in automatic models) a tiny gear selector. Most of the controls are operated using the touchscreen so there aren’t many buttons cluttering up the place.

Like the exterior design, you’ll see some sharp creases in the interior too – mostly along the dashboard – which stop it looking too drab.

Pick a sportier FR model and you get colourful stitching on the seats while more expensive FR First Edition versions add customisable mood lighting that stretches from the dashboard onto the doors.

But overall, the interior design of the Golf is just a bit more interesting and colourful.

Infotainment

The same goes for the standard 8-inch infotainment system. It’s not all that special to use, but it’s pretty intuitive and gets all the important smartphone-mirroring tech as standard.

Although, the optional 10-inch display is worth paying a bit extra for. It’s an all-new system for the Leon – and it’s similar to the one in, you’ve guessed it, the Golf. Although, the graphics aren’t quite as sharp and the menu system isn’t quite as good as the one in the VW.

Annoyingly, you have to control the air-con through the touchscreen infotainment system, which is a bit fiddly to do when you’re driving.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come as standard, and with the Apple system you don’t even have to connect your iPhone to the car with a USB cable – it can connect wirelessly.

The digital driver’s display is really useful. You can change the look of the dials and show all sorts of useful information. It’s really customisable and looks great.
