Ford Mustang Mach-E interior

The Mustang Mach-E’s interior blends cool tech appeal with a healthy dose of style. The massive infotainment screen can be a bit distracting, though

Style

Traditional Mustang design cues like the double-cowl instrument panel also round out the Mustang Mach-E's interior.

Ford has really nailed the design and layout of the new Mustang Mach-E’s cabin. Sure, there isn’t much in the way of colour in here, but who needs contrasting trim finishers when you’ve got a massive touchscreen infotainment system?

The vegan leather doesn’t look quite as obviously fake as some synthetic leathers you can get in other eco-conscious cars, and there are some really nice feeling fabric inserts on the dash top too. Sure it’s a bit grey scale in here, but you wouldn’t say the cabin looks dull.

Everything just feels really well screwed together, too. In fact, in terms of outright build quality, it feels sturdier than the new Volkswagen ID 4. Job well done, Ford.

Infotainment

Traditional Mustang design cues like the double-cowl instrument panel also round out the Mustang Mach-E's interior.

And now we move on to the main attraction of the Mustang Mach-E’s interior. No points for guessing where Ford got its inspiration for the massive 16 inch portrait-orientated touchscreen from (that’ll be Tesla), but you have to admit it looks really snazzy.

It mostly works well, too. The graphics are impressively sharp and responsive, although because they’re positioned right at the bottom of the screen, the controls for the heating and ventilation systems are a wee bit out of reach and hard to see while you’re driving.

Still, it allows you to open multiple screen windows at once, so just like with an Android smartphone, you can scroll through your music library while still keeping a small window open in the background for your sat-nav directions.

Speaking of Android smartphones, Android Auto is included as standard and can be connected to wirelessly. For those with iPhones, Apple CarPlay is also available. If you choose the Extended Range battery, Ford will also throw in a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
