New 2021 Jaguar XE design

It was only last year that Jaguar revamped the look of the XE saloon, and it hasn’t made any significant changes for this new 2021 model. It comes with the same sharp headlights as the current model, more aggressive front and rear bumpers and brake lights with a more angular design than those fitted to the larger XF.

The 2021 Jaguar XE is available with a new 204hp mild-hybrid diesel engine.

New 2021 Jaguar XE engines

The Jaguar XE will be available with a revised range of engines, including an all-new mild-hybrid diesel engine. This 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit produces 204hp and uses a small electric motor to give the diesel engine a boost when you accelerate hard. This motor also recovers energy when you brake, which it uses to recharge the car’s onboard battery.

The fastest P300 XE will do 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds.

You can also get the new Jaguar XE with a pair of petrol engines. These are both turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines and produce 250hp and 300hp. The 204hp diesel and 250hp petrol cars come with rear-wheel drive while the 300hp petrol model gets four-wheel drive. Every new XE comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

Jaguar hasn’t announced performance figures for the new mild-hybrid diesel XE, but has said the 250hp petrol-powered car will return up to 35.6mpg and accelerate from zero to 60mph in 6.4 seconds. The 300hp petrol car will cover the same 0-60mph sprint in 5.6 seconds.

A revised steering wheel design and upgraded infotainment tech are new for the 2021 XE.

New 2021 Jaguar XE interior

The new Jaguar XE has received a few interior upgrades for 2021, too. There’s a new steering wheel and the infotainment system has been overhauled with Jaguar’s latest Pivi Pro software. You now get a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display along with a 10-inch central touchscreen. The R-Dynamic HSE Specification pack also adds an extra 5.5-inch touchscreen on the centre console through which you control the car’s heating ventilation systems.

This new 10-inch touchscreen comes with smartphone mirroring as standard.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring now come as standard and you can get an optional wireless charging pad in the centre console. The new Jaguar XE’s infotainment screen comes with a built-in internet connection so it can automatically update itself to the latest software without you having to take your car back to the dealership.

You can buy the new Jaguar XE now – it costs from £29,635.
