The BMW M135i has received some performance upgrades, which include tuned suspension and better brakes.

The alternative to the Volkswagen Golf R and Mercedes AMG A35 also gets new colour options.

2022 BMW M135i engine and driving

The engine in the new BMW M135i hasn’t changed, meaning you still get the same 2.0-litre turbocharged unit with 306hp.

The main changes for the updated version come with the suspension. The springs and dampers have been adjusted and some of the mounts have been redesigned.

This should make the car sharper to drive, and stop it leaning too much through corners.

BMW has also made changes to the soundtrack of the new M135i, courtesy of a new exhaust system and some tweaks to the piped-in cabin noise.

2022 BMW M135i design

Very little has changed on the outside of the BMW M135i. You still get the same suite of skirts and spoilers as before, as well as 18-inch wheels as standard.

There are some bold new colour options to make your M135i stand out, including a striking Sau Paulo Yellow, along with Frozen Orange and Frozen Pure Grey.

2022 BMW M135i interior and infotainment

The interior of the new BMW M135i remains untouched, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing as the current car has a solid, high quality cabin.

The M135i gets some upgrades over the standard 1 Series, the most noticeable being the Alcantara sports seats. You also get M135i kick plates and a digital drivers display.

2022 BMW M135i price and release date

The updated BMW M135i is expected to arrive in Britain at the beginning of 2022.

While prices haven’t been announced yet, it’s safe to assume it will go up from the current £37,700 starting figure. Somewhere closer to £41,000 seems realistic.
