2021 Audi SQ5 revealed: price, specs and release date

November 17, 2020 by

The Audi SQ5 has been given a few subtle upgrades for 2021, including tweaked bodywork and new infotainment tech. Read on for full details.

  • Tweaked styling
  • Upgraded diesel engine
  • New infotainment system
  • On sale in late November
  • Will cost from £56,600
  • £71,750 Vorsprung models
The Audi SQ5 hasn’t been changed radically, but a few subtle nips and tucks aim to tempt you away from the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and the BMW X3 M40i.
You can get the new SQ5 with Matrix LED headlights.

Let’s start with its design. Look closely and you’ll spot a new grille that’s specific to the S models and a remodeled rear bumper. Both bumpers get a brushed aluminium-effect strip and there’s a quartet of very shiny (but also very fake) exhaust tips at the back.

Those exhausts look great, but they aren’t connected to the engine.

Top-spec SQ5 TDI Vorsprung models, come with larger 21-inch alloy wheels (20-inch come fitted on the standard model) and some extra black bumper and wing-mirror trims.

The new Audi SQ5 produces 341hp and 700Nm of torque.

Bigger changes are more apparent under the new SQ5’s bonnet. The 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine gets stronger steel pistons, an upgraded turbocharger system and some extra cooling, but still produces the same 341hp and 700Nm as before.

As in the old car, there’s a mild-hybrid system that uses a small electric motor gives the engine a boost when you accelerate. The 0-60mph sprint takes the same 5.1 seconds as before.

Top-spec Vorsprung cars get a limited-slip differential for extra grip.

The Audi SQ5’s suspension has been tuned with performance in mind, so it’s firmer and 30mm lower than the standard Q5’s. Range-topping Vorsprung variants come equipped with a sports differential at the back that helps maximise grip when you accelerate out of corners.

The new SQ5 gets Audi’s latest Infotainment system.

Interior updates include the updated MMI 10.1-inch touchscreen, which runs the new MIB 3 infotainment software and can be controlled via voice commands or buttons on the steering wheel.

Nappa leather and metal trim make sure the SQ5 looks suitably posh inside.

The electrically adjustable sport seats come with Nappa leather trim and feature embossed S logos and contrasting stitching. You also get some brushed aluminium inlays on the dashboard and doors as standard, while the SQ5 TDI Vorsprung versions are trimmed in carbon fibre instead.

Vorsprung trim also adds a head-up display, Bang & Olufsen sound system, panoramic glass sunroof and electrically adjustable steering wheel.

The first new Audi SQ5s will arrive in the UK in early 2021.
