New Citroen C5 Aircross price and specs

The new Citroen C5 Aircross is available in three trim levels from launch; Sense Plus, Shine and C-Series Edition. Prices start from £25,515 and rise to £36,870 for a top-spec plug-in hybrid model.

Sense Plus

Entry-level Sense Plus models come with a decent level of standard equipment. You get 18-inch alloy wheels, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start, as well as a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A Sense Plus car with the 1.2-litre petrol engine and a six-speed manual gearbox will set you back £25,515, rising to £28,135 if you want the diesel engine with an automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid engine isn’t available on the entry-level car, though.

Shine

Stepping up to the Shine model will set you back £26,665 for the 1.2-litre petrol and a manual gearbox, with the plug-in hybrid costing £34,430.

Additional equipment for the Shine model includes a driver assistance pack with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, Alcantara upholstery for the seats and some posher-feeling interior trim.

C-Series Edition

Top-of-the-range C-Series Edition versions of the C5 Aircross get a contrasting black roof, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging and a hands-free powered tailgate.

Prices for this model start from £29,105 for a 1.2-litre petrol. You can also have a diesel for £30,105, or a plug-in hybrid for £36,870.

New Citroen C5 Aircross design

If there’s one thing that’s always set the Citroen C5 Aircross apart from other SUVs, it’s the styling. This new version doesn’t appear to be any different.

The front end has a bold new light design, with slim LED lamps connected by two full-width light bars and there’s a new front bumper. It’s not a million miles away from the current car in terms of styling, but it does enough to keep it looking fresh.

It’s a similar story at the rear, where the overall shape of the current C5 Aircross is retained. There are some new tail lights with a different LED signature and a revised rear bumper too.

New Citroen C5 interior and infotainment

The main attraction in the cabin of the new Citroen C5 Aircross is the updated 10-inch infotainment system. It’s mounted high up on the dashboard, just like in the Citroen C4. A 12.3-inch driver’s display is also standard.

The new C5 Aircross has updated Advanced Comfort seats. These are made of a special high-density foam to provide you with maximum support on longer journeys.

The overall interior design is typically Citroen. It’s pretty minimalist with only a few physical buttons for the climate control and some touch sensitive shortcuts keys for the infotainment system. There is also some funky-coloured stitching around to liven things up.

New Citroen C5 Aircross engines and driving

As with the current Citroen C5 Aircross, the new car is set up for comfort more than anything. It has hydraulic cushions in the suspension that absorb bumps in the road, along with a sound-deadening coating on the windows to keep wind noise out.

The new C5 Aircross will be available as a plug-in hybrid with 180hp. Citroen claims it has around 35 miles of range from the onboard battery, and can be driven at up to 83 mph in electric mode.

Beyond this, the new Citroen C5 Aircross is available with a similar range of petrol and diesel engines as the outgoing car. This means you can have a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel, both with 130hp. They can also both be paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
