New Dacia Bigster SUV revealed: price, specs and release date

January 14, 2021 by

The Dacia Bigster has just been revealed. Although technically a concept, it previews an all-new rugged-looking SUV that’ll go on sale before 2025. Read on for full details.

  • All-new Dacia Bigster
  • Previews upcoming SUV
  • Bold new design
  • A range of hybrid/electric powertrains expected
  • One of three new Dacias coming by 2025

The new flagship model will sit above the Dacia Duster in the carmaker’s current line-up and be an alternative to the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Karoq.

New Dacia Bigster design

As you can see from these images, Dacia Bigster is one of the boldest-looking cars ever released by the Renault-owned brand. The mid-sized SUV has a very rugged but modern look, thanks to the bulging flanks and swollen arches.

The new Bigster sports an updated (and illuminated) Dacia badge.

A Y-shaped headlight bar and over-sized grille dominate the front end of the car and this aggressive style is carried on into the bonnet where various bulging panels come together.

From the side view, the car looks purposeful, with a protective plastic side plate that runs along the bottom of the doors and matches a set of contrasting wheel arch extensions. The rear door handles have been recessed into the pillar of the door for a clean and simplistic look.

A ring of protective plastic panels surrounds the lower edge of the new Bigster.

The rear of the new Dacia Bigster looks just as imposing as any other angle. Key details include a boot lid spoiler, a sharp Dacia logo, Y-shaped brake lights and a large protective rear bumper.

New Dacia Bigster interior

The Bigster’s cabin should be more eye-catching than the Duster’s, shown here…

There have been no interior images released of the Dacia Bigster’s interior at present but Dacias are known for having simplistic but functional interiors.

It’s likely this new car will get a bolder cabin to match its chunky exterior, but the brand will stay true to its value for money ethos, so don’t expect the same type of luxury that you would get from a more premium brand.

New Dacia Bigster engines and performance

The Bigster will likely come with hybrid engine options.

The new Dacia Bigster will be built using the same mechanical underpinnings as the latest Renault Clio and Captur. It’s very likely that various hybrid and electric drivetrains will be offered, given the current push towards electrified vehicles.

There’s no word on whether the new Bigster will be offered with front- or four-wheel drive.

New Dacia Bigster price and release date

A production version of the Bigster will go on sale before 2025.

The official price has yet to be revealed, but as with all Dacias you can expect the new Bigster to offer mpressive value for money. Denis Le Vot, CEO of Dacia and Lada brands, said: “Dacia will stay Dacia, always offering a trustworthy, authentic, best-value-for-money proposition to smart buyers.”

No release date has been confirmed, but Dacia has said you can expect the new Bigster to be released before 2025, along with three other new models.
