The new Ford Tourneo Connect MPV has been revealed. Based on the Volkswagen Caddy, it’s an alternative to the Peugeot Rifter and Citroen Berlingo. Read on for all the details.

The new Ford Tourneo Connect is a van-based MPV that will be available from the beginning of 2022 as an alternative to the Peugeot Rifter and Citroen Berlingo.
2022 Ford Tourneo Connect: design
If you’ve seen the new Volkswagen Caddy, you might be feeling a sense of deja vu here. That’s because the new Ford Tourneo Connect is based on the VW, and takes a fair bit of inspiration from its design.
That’s most noticeable at the rear, where the brake light design is practically the same.
The front end is more distinctive however, with slim headlights and large intakes in the grille giving it a more aggressive look.
There are four different variants of the new Tourneo Connect, Trend, Sport, Active and Titanium.
Active models get a more rugged look with metallic skid plates and plastic body mouldings, whereas the Sport model gets deeper front bumpers and darker 17-inch alloy wheels.
2022 Ford Tourneo Connect: interior and infotainment
Inside, the Ford Tourneo Connect offers the space and versatility you would expect from an MPV. It’s available as either a long- or short-wheelbase model (wheelbase refers to the distance between the front and rear wheels.) Both variants can be had with five or seven seats.
The second and third row of seats can also be folded down, or removed completely, to create plenty of space for carrying luggage. With the rear seats removed, the short-wheelbase model has 2,600 litres of cargo space – this grows to 3,100 litres in the long-wheelbase version. The front passenger seat can fold down to help accommodate longer items, such as kayaks.
In terms of infotainment tech, The Tourneo Connect comes with an 8.25 inch touchscreen as standard that can be upgraded to a 10-inch unit.
The system itself is lifted from the Volkswagen Caddy, meaning it also has the Caddy’s touch sensitive sliders for the climate controls. You can also pay extra for a fully digital driver’s display instead of conventional analogue dials.
2022 Ford Tourneo Connect: engines and driving
There are two engine options available for the Ford Tourneo Connect, a 1.5-litre petrol and a 2.0 litre diesel that’s available with two power outputs. Both of these engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
All-wheel-drive is available on the higher powered diesel.
All Tourneo Connects come with autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist and front and rear parking sensors as standard. Adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and front and blindspot monitoring are also available as options.
2022 Ford Tourneo Connect: Price and release date
The new Ford Tourneo Connect goes on sale in the UK at the beginning of 2022.
While there’s no word on price yet, expect it to rise compared with the current Tourneo Connect. Somewhere around £24,000 is a safe bet.
