  • New Mercedes CLE spotted
  • Convertible version of the C-Class
  • Coupe model also expected
  • CLE 63 AMG variant possible
  • May be revealed in 2023

Mercedes is testing a new convertible called the CLE. A replacement for the Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet, a coupe version is also expected.

This alternative to the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5 is expected to debut in 2023, and there may be an AMG performance version as well.

New Mercedes CLE design

The new Mercedes CLE looks as though it will retain the same proportions as the outgoing Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet. A coupe version is also expected to be offered.

Up front, you can see a slim set of headlights flanking a typically wide grille for Mercedes. The wheels fitted to this prototype are likely just for testing and won’t make production.

The rear of the car is pretty well covered for now, with those circular lights just for testing purposes. An AMG version is expected to appear as well which would have more aggressive styling details.

New Mercedes CLE engines

The new Mercedes CLE is likely to share its engine range with the existing C Class saloon. This means a selection of petrol and diesels, as well as possibly a plug-in hybrid.

A range-topping CLE 63 likely to make production as well, which may have the same 2.0-litre turbocharged hybrid engine of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG C63. This would mean over 500hp, if it happens at all.

New Mercedes CLE interior and infotainment

You can expect the new Mercedes CLE to share most of its interior with the new Mercedes C-Class saloon.

This would mean a minimalist design with a large portrait touchscreen cascading down the dashboard. Being a Mercedes, you can expect the build quality to be solid and the materials to be top notch.

New Mercedes CLE price and release date

You can expect the new Mercedes CLE to be officially revealed at some point next year.

As for pricing, it’ll likely cost more than the C-Class saloon on which it’s based. A starting price around £45,000 wouldn’t be surprising.
