The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo has been revealed as a more practical alternative to the Taycan electric car. It comes with four-wheel drive as standard and is on sale now, priced from £79,340.

The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo has been revealed as a more practical take on the sleek all-electric four-door coupe. This alternative to the Tesla Model S brings all the performance of the standard Taycan into a more spacious package and can be used as an off-roader (if you pay extra for a few key options.) 2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo design
It’s fair to say the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is a sleek-looking thing — bringing a practical edge to the Taycan without overly disturbing its sharp design.
The front of the Cross Turismo is identical to the normal Taycan, though it’s down the sides where things start to get a bit different. There’s a completely new roof that’s taller and flatter for more boot space, plus you can opt for roof rails — ideal for mounting things up top.
Gloss black wheel arches are fitted too for a bit more of a rugged look, and the Cross Turismo gets its own new alloy wheel designs. The 4 and 4S models get 19-inch wheels, though the Turbo and Turbo S have larger 20-inch items.
It’s at the back where the new Taycan Cross Turismo really stands out. The raised roof is met by a steeper boot lid, plus a large black spoiler is mounted above the rear windscreen. There are some extra silver and black bits on the rear bumper as well.

There’s nothing new to write home about in the interior of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, aside from its extra boot space (though more on that later.)
Like the saloon, the Cross Turismo gets a minimalist dashboard with an 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system and curved digital driver’s display. Entry-level cars get eight-way adjustable seats, though Turbo models see that rise to 14-way as standard. Go for the full-fat Turbo S, and you’ll be able to adjust 18-different bits of the seat.
You have the choice of two or three seats in the back as well, just like the normal Taycan.
2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo batteries and charging
All versions of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo are fitted with a 93.4kWh battery as standard, though performance figures vary depending on your choice of trim.
You get an 11kW onboard charger that’ll let you brim the Cross Turismo’s battery overnight using a wall-box home charger. You can pay extra to get a faster 22kW onboard charger that’ll finish a full charge in four and a half hours.
The fastest 270kW public fast chargers can boost your Cross Turismo from 5% to 80% charged in 23 minutes, and give you enough juice for another 60 miles of driving in just five minutes.
2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo motors and performance
The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo range kicks off with the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, which comes with two electric motors as standard producing a total of 380hp. Although, when you engage launch control, these motors switch into a special Boost Mode and produce 476hp and help you accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds.
If that’s not fast enough, there’s also a 4S version with 490hp as standard and 571hp in boost mode. That car does 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds. Turbo versions come with 625hp as standard and 680hp in boost mode, and they’ll do 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds.
The range-topping Turbo S comes with the same 625hp as the regular Turbo, but its Boost Mode cranks the power up to 761hp. That’s enough to blast it from 0-60mph in just 2.7 seconds.
2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo off-road and driving tech
Fancy a little bit of greenlaning? Spec your Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo with an optional off-road pack and you can do just that.
It brings a bit of extra body trim to protect it from stray rocks and the likes, as well as some plastic fins down the side. You even get a compass inside the car and a new ‘Gravel’ driving mode that raises the car’s suspension by 30mm for extra ground clearance.
Plan to stick to roads instead? No problem – Turbo S models get carbon-ceramic brakes and rear-wheel steering as standard for better agility, with speed-sensitive power steering an option too to help lighten the work out of driving it.
All cars get adaptive air suspension as standard as well — a departure from the Taycan saloon which doesn’t get it on entry-level two-wheel-drive cars.
2021 Porsche Taycan boot space and extras
As you’d expect, the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo gets a larger boot than the saloon as a result of the raised roofline and steeper boot lid.
It totals 446 litres in 4 and 4S models, with Turbo and Turbo S cars getting 405 litres — about 40 more than you get in the respective saloon versions. There’s still an 84-litre front boot as well – that’s the same size as the standard Taycan’s.
You can spec your Taycan Cross Turismo with a bike rack designed exclusively for the car, too. It can hold three bikes and allows the boot to be opened without having to take them off.
2021 Porsche Taycan price and release date
Orders are now being taken for the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, so it might be time to fish that wallet out.
Entry-level ‘4’ cars are available from £79,340, with the range-topping Turbo S setting you back £139,910. First deliveries are expected over the summer.
