The Light Commercial Vehicle of the Suzuki Jimny is now on sale, marking the return of the cult favourite 4×4 to the UK market.

Stringent emissions regulations meant the Jimny was pulled from sale as a passenger car in 2020, though the removal of the rear seats now allows it to be sold as a commercial vehicle.

Suzuki Jimny LCV price and release date

You can order a Suzuki Jimny LCV right now, with prices starting from £16,796 exc. VAT (£19,999 inclusive of it).

There’s no range of trims or mass of options to pick from, the only extras you can have are metallic paint (£404.17 exc. VAT) or dual-tone paint (£541.67 exc. VAT)

You do get a CD player (!) with DAB radio and Bluetooth support as standard though, along with a suite of safety tech that includes automatic emergency braking and hill-hold assist.

You’ll need to act fast if you want your Suzuki Jimny LCV this year though, with ‘limited numbers’ coming to the UK in 2021.

Suzuki Jimny LCV design

Little has changed about the exterior design of the Suzuki Jimny LCV, with the exception of 15-inch black steel wheels coming as your only choice.

That does mean it keeps the cutesy boxy stance, squared grille with retro circle headlamps and flared wheel arches.

The biggest change to the Suzuki Jimny LCV is its rear seats – or lack thereof. They’re removed to classify this as a commercial vehicle and make it eligible for sale in the UK again.

This does mean you get a much larger 836-litre boot and a new metal mesh guard. The back remains carpeted though, and it probably wouldn’t be too hard to source a set of rear seats to fit yourself… (For use off the public road, of course.)

Suzuki Jimny LCV engine and 4×4 system

Nothing changes under the bonnet of the Suzuki Jimny LCV. It keeps the passenger car’s naturally-aspirated, 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 101hp and 130Nm of torque

That engine still drives all four wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The ‘Allgrip Pro’ 4×4 system remains unchanged as well, so you can expect this new LCV version to be just as capable at off-roading as the standard four-seater.
