Vauxhall has thoroughly upgraded the Grandland SUV, and in doing so has dropped the Grandland ‘X’ name.
The new Vauxhall Grandland adds sharp looks and oodles of extra tech to this practical family SUV. It’ll go on sale soon and the first UK deliveries of this VW Tiguan and Nissan Qashqai alternative are expected in Autumn 2021.
New Vauxhall Grandland design
The outgoing Vauxhall Grandland doesn’t look all that exciting. Sure it comes with a contrasting roof and a few gits of chrome trim, but what family SUV doesn’t these days? Thankfully, Vauxhall has given the new car a makeover worthy of any reality TV show.
the first thing you’ll spot is the completely new front end. The new car comes with completely new headlights (with up to 84 individual LEDs each) inspired by the smaller Mokka SUV, alongside a new gloss-black grille insert and a handful of new angular trims in the front bumper.
Vauxhall hasn’t fully revealed the new car’s rear end, but a teaser image shows it comes with a new ‘Grandland’ script badge that stretches across the bootlid, just like on a Skoda Karoq…
New Vauxhall Grandland interior
Big changes are afoot inside the new Vauxhall Grandland, too. The new car gets a totally new dual-screen infotainment system comprising a central touchscreen and a digital driver’s display. The former stretches for 12 inches while the latter beams various driving info on a 10-inch screen.
You can connect your phone to the car’s built-in screen using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and there’s a wireless charging pad to keep your battery topped-up, too.
the new Grandland comes with electrically adjustable front seats with pneumatic lumbar support, so there should be no danger of lower back-ache spoiling a long drive. The Grandland’s upgraded leather seats come with the option of heating and ventilation features, too.
New Vauxhall Grandland engines and driving
Vauxhall hasn’t confirmed which engines will be available in the new Grandland, but you can expect it to borrow a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid options from the outgoing car.
Entry-level cars will likely come with a 130hp 1.2-litre petrol engine, while diesel models will get an equally powerful 1.5-litre unit. There’ll also be a plug-in hybrid model, though Vauxhall hasn’t confirmed if this’ll match the specs of the outgoing 300hp Grandland X PHEV.
New Vauxhall Grandland price and release date
The new Vauxhall Grandland is expected to cost slightly more than the outgoing car across the range. Expect to pay from around £26,000 for a 1.2-litre petrol car, and around £27,000 for a diesel-powered car. Plug-in hybrid models will set you back more like £33,000.
The Vauxhall Grandland will go on sale soon and the first UK deliveries are planned for Autumn 2021.
