A new Volkswagen Polo has been revealed with fresh styling tweaks inspired by the latest Golf, along with new driver-assistance tech that features on this Ford Fiesta alternative for the first time. The new Polo will go on sale towards the end of 2021, with prices likely to start around £18,000.
New 2022 Volkswagen Polo design
This is a pretty drastic facelift for the Volkswagen Polo. Up front, it gets a complete overhaul with new LED headlamps and a light bar stretching the full width of the grille – much like on the new Golf. The bumper itself has been given a total redesign as well.
The Polo is totally revised at the back too. Its brake lights take on a complete new boxy boomerang-like shape and come with LED technology as standard. Entry-level cars now get 15-inch alloys as standard, with new designs available across the range.

Now available for the Volkswagen Polo is ‘Travel Assist’ tech — a system that allows the car to take control of acceleration, braking and steering when on motorways. It’ll work at speeds of up to 130mph, in case you fancy taking it to the autobahn…
Also fitted to the new Volkswagen Polo as standard are automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance.
New 2022 Volkswagen Polo interior and infotainment
Interior changes to the latest Volkswagen Polo aren’t quite as dramatic as on the outside, but it has seen a few tweaks to keep it looking fresh.
There’s a new steering wheel, along with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display fitted as standard to all versions of the hatchback. You have the option for the climate control settings to be integrated with the 8.0-inch infotainment system too.
Sat nav still costs extra, though the system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay out of the box if you’d prefer to hook your phone up and use Google Maps or Waze instead.

Three petrol engines will be available for the revised Volkswagen Polo at its launch, as well as an LPG option that’s unlikely to make it to the UK.

The petrol options are all turbocharged 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engines in 80hp, 90hp and 110hp outputs. The 80hp and 90hp models come with a manual gearbox as standard, although the 90hp version gets the option of a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox if you pay a bit extra. This gearbox comes as standard in 110hp cars.

The revised Volkswagen Polo is set to on sale towards the end of 2021, so expect to hear more on exact UK pricing and specs over the summer.
It’s likely to cost a bit more than the current car though, so could set you back from around £18,000.
