New Skoda Kodiaq vRS price and release date

You can order the revised Skoda Kodiaq vRS now, with prices starting at £44,635.

The vRS had been taken off sale prior to the Kodiaq range being refreshed, presumably to do with emissions regulations and its diesel engine, though now returns with petrol power.

It uses the 2.0-litre engine you’ll find in a VW Golf GTI, which produces 245hp and sends power to all four wheels through a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The result is 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds.

As standard, the Skoda Kodiaq vRS comes with a set of 20-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights and some racier touches inside — including suede sports seats and a vRS-badged steering wheel.

Orders are now also being taken for the rest of the refreshed Skoda Kodiaq range, which costs from £27,650.

That’ll get you a five-seat SE model, with plenty of standard equipment including matrix LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless go and wireless support for Apple CarPlay.

Moving up to the seven-seat SE L brings 19-inch alloys, automatic high beams, heated front seats and an electrically operated tailgate. Pricing for the SE L starts from £31,895.

Range-topping L&K models get a digital driver’s display, which can be optioned across the range

Next up is the sportier, err, Sportline, This adds 20-inch alloy wheels to the Kodiaq, along with black styling elements and a microsuede interior upholstery. You’ll get a progressive steering system too, which aims to make the Kodiaq feel a smidge sportier to drive. Sportline models cost from £35,805.

Sitting at the top of the standard Kodiaq range is the luxury-oriented L&K trim. This’ll set you back at £41,720 and comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, leather seats and a digital driver’s display.

New Skoda Kodiaq design

You’ve got new taillights and scrolling indicators at the back of the Kodiaq

Skoda hasn’t changed much about the Kodiaq for 2021 – after all, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it, right? From every angle, the new car still looks a lot like the current Skoda Kodiaq, albeit with a bit of nip and tuck to take some years off it.

Changes at the front are most noticeable, with a taller grille, flatter bonnet and slimmer headlights giving the Kodiaq a more boxy stance.

Slimmer headlights add to a more boxy look

It’s not too different at the back of the car, although there are new LED brake lights and a set of Audi-esque scrolling indicators on higher-spec cars. You have a choice of new wheels designs too, ranging from 17- to 20-inches.

You can have this two-spoke steering wheel if you want your car to look like it’s smiling at you

It’s not exactly a revolution inside the refreshed Skoda Kodiaq. You’ll get a new two- or three-spoke steering wheel depending on which trim you pick, and there are some new fancy trim bits and some contrasting stitching on offer, but that’s your lot.

You can now pick front seats with heating and ventilation though, plus a massage function. The infotainment system options are untouched though, so you’ll get an 8- or 9.2-inch screen depending on how you spec your Kodiaq plus the option of a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

New Skoda Kodiaq engines

The standard engine line-up is unchanged

Skoda hasn’t changed the standard engine line-up for the Kodiaq — so you still have the choice of 150hp and 190hp petrol options, plus 150hp and 200hp diesels.

The lower-output petrol comes with front-wheel drive and the choice of a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, with the more powerful option featuring all-wheel-drive as standard. The diesel choices are both all-wheel-drive too and use the same automatic gearbox.

The Skoda Kodiaq vRS has returned with petrol power

The Skoda Kodiaq vRS makes a return after a brief hiatus too, though now sees it uses the same petrol engine as the Volkswagen Golf GTI rather than the older Kodiaq vRS’s beefy diesel.
