Smart ForTwo and ForFour white and black editions on sale

The Smart ForTwo and Smart ForFour are now available in two special editions named “edition white” and “edition black”. Both will arrive in showrooms in February costing more than the standard model but claiming to offer lots of extra kit.

The ForTwo special editions cost from £12,360 and come with £1,500 worth of extras over the existing ‘prime’ model they’re based on – equating to a £600 saving over a standard model with these options specified separately. The ForFour editions come with £1,660 worth of extras resulting in a £760 saving.

The extensive kit list features of heated leather seats, stainless steel sports pedals, satellite navigation and Smart’s comfort package including a height adjustable steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat, and electrically adjustable door mirrors.

The engine choice remains the same as the rest of the Smart range with two three-cylinder engines on offer. The entry-level 1.0-litre produces 71hp while the 0.9-litre produces 91hp with the help of a turbo.

Both are available with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. Despite the difference in performance, both engines on the ForTwo return 68.9mpg, while those fitted in the slightly heavier ForFour return a marginally lower 67.3mpg.

Both special editions can be identified by their bespoke all-black or all-white bodywork, extending from the body panels to the grille. They also sit 10mm lower thanks to sports suspension and eagle-eyed Smart fans will spot the chromed exhaust tailpipes, flared wheel arches, rear parking sensors and black 16-inch alloy wheels. The ForFour goes one further with the addition of tinted rear windows.
