Entry-level Visia models are best avoided. They don’t come with alloy wheels nor a touchscreen infotainment system but you do get a stereo with DAB digital radio, a CD player, air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and cruise control as standard. If you want satellite navigation you’ll have to pay extra for an N-Connecta model.

The Nissan Qashqai in Acenta Premium guise comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera, automatic headlights and front and rear parking sensors. You also get an upgraded infotainment system with smartphone mirroring and satellite navigation, alongside lane-departure warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

N-Connecta models are the pick of the Qashqai range. They come with the same basic equipment as Acenta versions – including adjustable lumbar support and height-adjustable front seats – but add a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation as standard alongside 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, a 360-degree surround-view camera system and tinted rear windows.

Nissan Qashqai Tekna cars have 19-inch alloy wheels and, inside, a 7-inch touchscreen with satnav, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and 8 BOSE speakers. The front seats are heated and conveniences include cruise control, automatic wipers, amd lane-keeping and -changing assistance.

Range-topping Tekna+ models come with the same upgraded Bose stereo, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 19-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights as Tekna cars but add a panoramic glass roof, soft Nappa leather seats with a memory function, four-way electrically adjustable lumbar support and a dark roof lining. All these upmarket features come at a price that’ll probably be too steep for most families, however.
