Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet review

The Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet is an open-top version of VW’s stylish family SUV. It’ll have the same solid interior and great petrol engines, but having the wind in your hair means less luggage space.

Find out more about the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet

Is the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet a good car?

Tastes change. Remember when everybody used to smoke? Not so much, these days. People used to exclusively buy family hatchbacks, too, but now the family SUV is in vogue. And now stepping on to the catwalk are open-top SUVs like the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet.

This look might take a little longer to hit the highstreets, but it makes sense when you think about it. We used to happily buy open-top hatchbacks, so why not open-top SUVs?

And as they go, the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet isn’t half bad. It has a chunky, upright stance and clean lines roof up or down that’ll certainly turn heads. Inside you get the usual VW quality and straightforward logic in terms of design, plus its latest touchscreen infotainment systems.

Love it or hate it, it was only a matter of time. The family SUV is the new new family hatchback, and hence the open-top family SUV was always on the cards.

Like the standard T-Roc, the Cabriolet will seat five people, and with only two doors the space between its front and rear wheels has been extended to allow more room for those in. the back. However, at 284 litres its boot will be noticeably smaller than the standard car’s. Dropping the electrically operated roof takes 11 seconds.

Only petrol engines will be offered in the T-Roc Cabriolet – either a 115hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder or 150hp 1.5 four-cylinder. Then you can choose between a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox.

There will be just two trims to choose between too, either Design or R-Line, the former being cheaper and focused on comfort, the latter more expensive and getting a more aggressive, sporty look inside and out.

So, if you loved open-top hatchbacks but want to be bang on trend, then the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet could be for you. Head over to our Volkswagen deals page to find the very best prices on one.
