Volvo XC90 now comes with Apple CarPlay

Volvo has announced the introduction of Apple CarPlay smartphone integration for its XC90 SUV…

The Volvo XC90 now boasts the option of Apple’s CarPlay connectivity, meaning owners can easily control their iPhones through Volvo’s Sensus Connect infotainment system.

Available on all XC90 models, Apple CarPlay has been designed to work seamlessly between phone and car to give owners access to various iPhone apps, music features and of course texts and phone calls on the move. Apple’s ‘Siri’ voice activation also means that eyes and hands are kept safely on the road.

The Volvo has already won notable praise for its large touchscreen display, so the addition of CarPlay is likely to appeal even more to technology fans. Standard versions of Sensus infotainment also see an update including better satellite-navigation features and more detailed maps. Elsewhere, the XC90’s interior remains the same, so that means ample room for seven passengers, extremely comfortable seats and an LCD instrument panel.

Apple CarPlay will cost owners of D5 and T6 models £300, or just £200 if they choose the T8 plug-in hybrid model. Those who already own a current generation XC90 can have the system retro-fitted to their car, too. Considering Volvo fits its Sensus system as standard to the XC90, it represents great value for money – especially when you consider the £1,950 price tag Audi attaches to its MMI package in the Q7 SUV.
