The Citroen C4 family hatchback has been given some updates for 2022, with the most notable change being an improved ‘real-world’ range for the electric version.

This quirky alternative to the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf will also be offered with new alloy wheel designs, different colour options, some revised interior features and a few engine tweaks.

Citroen C4 and e-C4 on sale

The revised Citroen C4 and e-C4 is now on sale. The starting price has gone up slightly, from £20,990 to £21,310 for the petrol C4, and from £29,180 to £30,895 for the electric e-C4 (inclusive of the £2,500 government plug-in car grant).

Citroen C4 and e-C4 design

The overall design of the Citroen C4 will remain more or less the same, which is no bad thing if you’re looking for something unique and quirky.

There are a few minor changes though, including some new alloy wheel designs. The entry-level car now gets grey wheels, while higher-spec versions get 18-inch diamond-cut alloys. There is also a new colour on offer, called Perla Nera Black.

Citroen C4 engines and e-C4 batteries

The revised Citroen e-C4 has been tweaked to boost efficiency, leading to a supposed better ‘real world’ range. The official range remains the same at 217 miles from its 50kWh battery.

Citroen has also changed the engine options for the normal C4. The higher-powered PureTech 155 petrol engine with an automatic gearbox is now only available on the top-spec Shine Plus trim. Meanwhile, the BlueHDI 130 diesel engine with an automatic gearbox is only available from the mid-range Shine model and up.

Citroen C4 and e-C4 Interior and equipment

The most notable change to the interior of the Citroen C4 is that the Smart Pad tablet holder is now available across the whole range.

This is a mount for tablet devices in front of the passenger so they can watch movies on the move. It has a screen built in that blocks the driver from seeing it to avoid any distractions.
Beyond that, it’s business as usual, meaning you get generous equipment and a modern design.
