This is the latest facelift of the Porsche Macan — the second time this Audi SQ5 and BMW X3 M40i alternative has been updated since going on sale in 2014.

Tweaks to the exterior are pretty minimal, but you’ll spot an overhauled interior on this Macan, which will pave the way for a new, all-electric generation set to come towards the end of 2022.

2022 Porsche Macan facelift design

In all honesty, you’d need to be an expert at ‘spot the difference’ to tell this facelift Porsche Macan from the updated version (launched in 2019) at a glance.

At the front, it gets a new bit of black trim sweeping around the grille and, err, that’s about it.

If you’re really keen-eyed, you’ll spot a new texture for the diffuser and the black side plates. Upgraded LED headlights now come as standard on all models though, along with body-coloured door mirror trims.

2022 Porsche Macan facelift interior and infotainment

It’s inside the new Porsche Macan where the most significant changes come. Finally, the old car’s clunky buttons have been replaced with a much slicker row of touch-sensitive controls.

There’s a shorter gear selector too, and all models now come with a fancy-looking analogue clock on top of the dashboard as standard.

In typical Porsche fashion, there’s a huge choice of upholstery available including new blue, orange and beige leather and stitching options. Oh, and the new car’s steering wheel options have been nabbed from the latest Porsche 911.

You’ll get a 10.9-inch infotainment system as standard as well, complete with voice commands.

2022 Porsche Macan facelift engine

Every version of the new Porsche Macan gets a power boost as part of the update.

Sitting at the entry point of the range is the, err, Macan with a 265hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine — up from 245hp — which will send the SUV from 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds and on to 144mph.

If you fancy something a bit beefier, the Macan S swaps this engine for a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6.

This produces 380hp, 26hp more than before, allowing it to cover 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds. You’ll be able to hit 161mph (on the Autobahn, naturally) with it, too.

Sitting at the top of the range is the Macan GTS, with the same engine as the S but producing 440hp — a decent 60hp increase on the last GTS.

This lets the Macan crack 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and go on to a 169mph top speed.

All versions of the Porsche Macan send power to an all-wheel-drive system through an eight-speed PDK automatic gearbox.

2022 Porsche Macan facelift price and release date

You can order your new Porsche Macan now, with prices for the entry-level car starting from £47,780.

That rises to £53,300 for the S while the GTS tops the lot at £64,770. First deliveries are expected in October.
